Description
Among finest Certified 1883 PR68 Cameo Quarters
1883 25C PR68 Cameo PCGS. Several hundred examples of the 1,039 1883 proofs minted have been certified by PCGS and NGC. Only about 85 have been given the cameo designation, however. At the PR68 grade level of the current piece, a mere three specimens have been seen in cameo, and none finer. Nearly untoned surfaces display just a wisp of light tan color at the rims. Frosted design elements are exceptionally well struck, and appear to float over deeply mirrored, watery fields. Indeed, both sides reveal a white-on-black appearance when the coin is viewed from directly overhead. Close scrutiny shows no flaws on the immaculately preserved surfaces. Population: 1 in 68 cameo, 0 finer (10/06).(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23XF, PCGS# 85584, GSID# 5361)
