Lovely Type Two Reverse 1892-S Quarter, MS66
1892-S 25C MS66 PCGS. Type Two Reverse. Like so many early S-mint Barber quarters, the 1892-S is elusive in the higher Mint State grades. For the 1892-S, the rarity switches from the 1892-P and -O issues, as the Type Two reverse (eagle's wing covers middle serif of the E) is rarer than the Type One pieces. This lovely coin offers lustrous silver surfaces covered with light amber and ice-blue patina. This coin is equal in grade to the fabulous John C. Hugon Collection coin, also a Type Two Reverse piece certified MS66 by PCGS. That service has graded a total of eight pieces in MS66, with one finer (11/06).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23XV, PCGS# 5603, GSID# 5414)
