Description

Imposing PR62 1856 Flying Eagle Cent

1856 1C PR62 PCGS. Snow-9. A die line through the I in UNITED and a small mint-made spike on the left ribbon end verify the die pairing. A needle-sharp example of the perpetually popular first year Flying Eagle Cent. Olive-gold in color, with lighter peach hues throughout the margins and legends. The reverse is well preserved, as is the majority of the obverse. A few very faint hairlines near the date are all that deny a higher assessment from PCGS. A pair of interesting and fully retained laminations (as made) are noted on the reverse border at 3 and 9 o'clock.
