Description

Select Mint State Key 1889-CC Dollar

1889-CC $1 MS63 NGC. Many thousands of collectors are presently working on their set of Carson City Morgan dollars. The dates prevalent in the 1970s GSA auctions (1878-CC, 1880-CC through 1885-CC, 1891-CC) are obtained readily, and semi-keys such as the 1879-CC and 1893-CC follow with much greater difficulty. The final challenge, the 1889-CC, has prevented many a numismatist from completing the run of CC-mint Morgans. But here is such an opportunity, and not in the usual cleaned XF grade associated with the '89-CC. This is a brilliant semi-prooflike example that boasts a full strike and lacks consequential marks. The cornerstone of an advanced collection.(Registry values: P9, N4719)
