Seldom Seen AU58 1854-O Three Dollar

1854-O $3 AU58 PCGS. The 1854-O is generally not available any finer than AU58, and it is seldom offered at that level. Only a handful of Uncirculated coins are known, making this an important offering for the serious collector of this series. A bit lightly struck, as usual, the surfaces have a pronounced reddish tinge and there is a significant amount of mint luster clinging to the devices. Lightly abraded, the only surface flaw of any note is a planchet depression that extends from the first feather of the headdress to the space between the TA in STATES. An important condition rarity in the three dollar series.(#7971) (Registry values: N2998)
