Conditionally Rare Gem Pan-Pac Fifty Dollar Round

1915-S $50 Panama-Pacific 50 Dollar Round MS65 PCGS. This coin was previously offered as lot 9133 in our September 2002 Long Beach Signature Sale, where it was described as: "The Pan-Pac Fifty is one of the most beautiful coins ever minted and it is rife with symbolic meaning. Stuck on the eve of America's involvement in the First World War, the Greek helmet is pushed back on Liberty's head in a ready but not fully combative posture. The owl on the reverse signifies watchfulness. This is an absolutely splendid example and the first full Gem we have handled in, well...no one can quite remember just when the last time was we sold a Gem Round. The surfaces are immaculate and covered with smooth, bright, satiny luster. This coin has obviously been well taken care of since the day it was struck in 1915. Extremely rare in strict Gem condition." Population: 7 in 65, none are finer at PCGS (10/02).
