Description

Impressive Gem Mint State 1895-O Barber Dime

1895-O 10C MS65 PCGS. With the obvious exception of the 1894-S rarity, this is the lowest-mintage issue and the key to the entire Barber Dime series, regardless of grade. Even well circulated examples find a receptive audience in the marketplace. Of course, Gem Mint State examples are without peer. This example is essentially equal to the similarly graded Hugon Collection specimen, with frosty silver luster and brilliant, untoned surfaces. With the exception of the leaves at the lower left, all design elements are fully detailed. The surfaces are exceptional for their quality, with only a few slight abrasions and faint hairlines. The opportunity to acquire a high grade example of this issue is always celebrated by collectors, who will gather together in the auction arena and battle each other in an attempt to win this prize. A year ago, when we offered the Hugon coin, we suggested that this is a fleeting opportunity for the advanced Barber Dime specialist, and those words seem equally appropriate again. Population: 8 in 65, 1 finer (11/05).
