Description:

Iran - Persia. Specimen Book of the Pahlavi Dynasty, this incredible collection of forty Specimen banknotes covers the period from 1932 through 1951, Reza Shah and Mohamed Reza Pahlavi. Reza Shah: First Series dated 1311SH (1932): Pick 19 through 23, the 10 Rials through 500 Rials, Second Series dated 1313-1314SH (1933-1934): Pick 24 through 30, the 5 Rials through 1000 Rials, Series of 1936-1942, Pick 31 through 38, 13 types including two of each denomination, 5 through 1000 Rials, except for the single 500 Rials, and Mohamed Reza Shah: Pick 39-46, 5 through 1000 Rials (1944) and P47-53, 10 through 1000 Rials. The P24 is an issued note which has been hole punched canceled and marked as such in Farsi. The remainder of the specimen notes are either overprinted Specimen, Cancelled or Specimen in Farsi, and all have 000000 serial numbers. The notes are AU to UNC and are mounted into rectangular "windows" in the specimen book. Many of these types are extremely rare as issued notes, especially the early 500 and 1000 Rials of Reza Shah, and are eagerly sought after as Specimens as well. This numismatic treasure has been held by a private family for many years, and is now available to the collecting public for the first time. Estimate: $8,000 - $12,000.
