Certified Mint State 1793 S-8 Wreath Cent
1793 1C Wreath Cent--Vine and Bars--S-8, B-13, Low R.3. MS62 Brown NGC. XF45 EAC. Die State II. The reverse is lightly cracked along the diagonal ridge of the initial die state. Minor clash marks are present on the obverse. According to the emission sequence worked out by Walter Breen, this was one of the last of the Vine and Bars Wreath Cents to be struck, just before S-11a. After these two varieties, the Lettered Edge pieces finished the series. The surfaces have attractive chocolate-brown color and are generally smooth and glossy. Only the slightest raised verdigris needs to be mentioned. A splendid Wreath Cent, marred only by a few tiny rim bruises on the reverse, but these should prove useful for pedigree researchers. Based on EAC grading, this example just misses the Condition Census for the variety, yet is probably within the top 20 for the marriage.Ex: Joseph Early; Garry Fitzgerald (11/13/1968).
