St. Petersburg Collection of Russian and Polish Coinage To Highlight Heritage's June Long Beach Signature Auction of World Coins

Dallas, Texas: One of the most comprehensive collections of post-1800 Russian Roubles and Polish crowns to be auctioned in several decades will be offered by Heritage Auction Galleries at their June 2006 Long Beach Signature Auction of Ancients and World Coins.

"The St. Petersburg Collection," noted World Coin Director Warren Tucker, "is superb in overall quality, and among its nearly two hundred pieces can be found most of the rarest issues from the 1801-1924 period. It is one of three significant anchor consignments in our June Long Beach auction, with the other two having a Latin American flavor."

Specialists will be pursuing approximately 150 Russian Roubles, including most dates and mints from 1801-1924, with many of the rarest issues:

Three different varieties of the Family Rouble

All three varieties of the Marriage Rouble, including these rarities:

The Marriage "Rouble" Medal in gold, Plain edge

The extremely rare 1839 Borodino 1_ Rouble

The extremely rare regular issue & extremely rare 1839 Rouble

Additional Russian rarities:

"The St. Petersburg Collection," concluded Tucker, "also offers more than three dozen rare Polish 10 Zlotych crowns, including most of the extremely low-mintage pieces from the 1820s."

Highlights from the St. Petersburg Collection, The Whittier Collection of Latin American Minor Coinage, and the Rio de la Plata Collection of Argentinean Coins are now available for viewing at HeritageAuctions.com/Coins.

Images, descriptions, and prices realized from all of Heritage's previous auctions are available in the Permanent Auction Archives at the Heritage website.
