Description

1878 Nickel Three Cent, PR67+
CAC-Endorsed Cameo

1878 3CN PR67+ Cameo PCGS. CAC. There was no nickel circulation coinage in 1878 of either the three or five cent denominations, although 2,350 proofs were struck of each type for sale to collectors. This high-end Superb Gem Cameo example of the three cent piece boasts an excellent strike and impressive preservation with taces of champagne toning. Excessive die polishing is evident on the lower wreath and at the bridge of Liberty's nose, although the same contributes to the field-motif contrast. Population: 28 in 67 (4 in 67+) Cameo, 1 finer (10/15).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 275Y, PCGS# 83774, Greysheet# 2830)

Weight: 1.94 grams
