1857-S 50C Medium S, WB-102, Die Pair 4, R.4, XF45 PCGS. Medium S mintmark. The small mintage of 158,000 pieces attracts Seated half specialists to this scarce San Francisco issue. Here is a blatantly original example, with warm-gray patina and some old charcoal-gray build-up in the recesses. Evidence of the sharp strike remains on all of the raised motifs. Housed in a green label holder. Population (all varieties): 15 in 45, 23 finer (10/15).Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 572106, Base PCGS# 6292)
