1863/2 Three Cent Silver, PR64 Cameo
Elusive
Guide Book Variety

1863/2 3CS PR64 Cameo PCGS. CAC. Strong magnification shows a line between the center and lower serif of the 3 in the date. This line appears to be the curve from an underdigit 2. Listed in the Guide Book but omitted from Cherrypickers'. The majority of 1863 proofs are from a different die with the lower star point aligned with the right edge of the 8 in the date, instead of the left edge of the 6, as on the present piece. Fully struck, flashy, and nearly untoned. The fields display a few delicate hairlines. Population: 6 in 64 Cameo, 7 finer (11/15).
