Description
1905-O Micro O Dime, MS65
Only One Finer at PCGS
1905-O 10C Micro O MS65 PCGS Secure. Ex: Simpson. A cursory
examination of the PCGS population report suggests that the 1905
Micro O dime is only slightly scarcer than the Normal O variety
(PCGS has certified 228 Normal O dimes and 212 Micro O examples).
However, an examination of values helps to explain the difference.
An XF40 Micro O valued at $700 in XF40 (according to the PCGS Price
Guide) is more likely to be submitted than a Normal O in the same
grade that is valued at $95. In Mint State grades, the Micro O
emerges as a major rarity with only seven examples graded by PCGS
finer than AU58. A Gem 1905 Micro O dime, such as the piece offered
here, is a major rarity. This boldly defined piece has softly
lustrous silver surfaces with delicate champagne toning. Trivial
marks on Liberty's chin are all that separate this piece from the
single finer example. Population: 1 in 65, 1 finer (11/15).Selections from The Bob R. Simpson Collection.(Registry values: P5)
