Description
1857 Flying Eagle Cent, Snow-9, MS65
Obverse Clashed With Seated Half, FS-402
1857 1C Obverse Die Clash With Seated Half, Snow-9, FS-402, MS65
PCGS. The 1857 Flying Eagle cents are known clashed with the
double eagle obverse (Snow-7), the Seated quarter reverse (Snow-8),
and the Seated half dollar obverse (Snow-9) as on this piece, the
only one of the three that appears with some regularity. This Gem
is nonetheless a conditional rarity, among only five submissions at
PCGS in this top grade level. The medium-brown surfaces are highly
lustrous and boldly struck, a level of detail that brings out the
interesting clash marks in sharp relief. A great-looking coin and a
fascinating example of this numismatic blunder. Population: 5 in 65
(1 in 65+), 0 finer (11/15).From The Tom & Jean Fore Collection.
