Description
1897 Liberty Nickel, PR68 Cameo
Outstanding Registry Set Candidate
1897 5C PR68 Cameo PCGS. CAC. A nominal mintage of 1,938
proof Liberty nickels was accomplished in 1897, making the issue
challenging, but still obtainable, in grades up to the Premium Gem
level. Specimens that grade better than PR66, with Cameo surfaces,
are condition rarities. The present coin is among the finest
survivors of this popular issue. This piece possesses incredible
eye appeal to complement its unsurpassed technical quality, with
deeply mirrored fields that contrast dramatically with the
razor-sharp, frosty design elements. As expected from the lofty
grade, the brilliant surfaces are virtually pristine, with just the
slightest hint of pale gold toning at selected angles. Population:
3 in 68 Cameo, 0 finer (1/16).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2787, PCGS# 83895, GSID# 3028)
