1842 First Restrike Half Cent
B-2, PR66 Brown

1842 1/2 C First Restrike PR66 Brown PCGS. CAC. B-2, R.6. PCGS has certified three of these in PR66 Brown and two others in PR66 Red and Brown, and those five submissions represent the finest that grading service has certified, although the specific identification of First or Second Restrikes is unknown. All three varieties of 1842 are rated R.6, meaning less than 30 examples are known of each. It is thought that only a little over half that number of First Restrikes exist today. This piece has hints of red on both sides, with delicate blue overtones on its olive-brown surfaces. The design elements are sharp and the fields are completely mirrored. Our EAC grade PR62.(Registry values: P4)
