Description

1926 Sesquicentennial Quarter Eagle, MS66
Condition Rarity in This Grade

1926 $2 1/2 Sesquicentennial Quarter Eagle MS66 PCGS. As is the case with its half dollar counterpart, the 1926 Sesquicentennial quarter eagle commemorative was designed (by a committee) and struck in a low relief that made many survivors show a blunt strike; others of the 46,000-plus net coins distributed exhibit light wear or contact marks. This Premium Gem is a pleasing exception, displaying superlative preservation and radiant luster on deeply orange-tinged surfaces. This piece is bettered by a sole MS66+ at PCGS (a coin that was certified MS67 by PCGS around 1999 has now been delisted) (3/16).
