Description

1894 Nickel, MS66+
Scarcer, Low-Mintage Date

1894 5C MS66+ PCGS. The Panic of 1893 diminished the need for circulating coinage of all denominations. Mintage for nickels dropped from 13.3 million in 1893 to 5.4 million in 1894. This is an all-brilliant example that lacks the often-seen planchet flakes and flaws that plague many 1894 nickels. The strike is strong throughout with minimal abrasions (of course). Population: 51 in 66 (8 in 66+), 1 finer (4/16).(Registry values: N1793)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2779, PCGS# 3855, Greysheet# 2959)

Weight: 5.00 grams

Metal: 75% Copper, 25% Nickel
