Bowers Die State "V." An unlisted die state in the Bowers
Encyclopedia, where this coin is the plate coin for the late
die state with advanced obverse die cracks. In addition to the
arc-shaped die crack connecting stars 1 to 4, with the die failing
at stars 2 and 3, a similar arc-like crack from stars 8 to 11 is
not described in the reference. This is a wonderful early dollar,
with blatant originality and rich toning that features steel-blue
borders around the golden central devices. Luster remains beneath
the natural patina. Both obverse and reverse display cracks and die
clashing to satisfy any early dollar die state specialist. There
