Description

1950-D/S FS-601 Quarter, MS66
Scarce Overmintmark Variety

1950-D/S 25C FS-601 MS66 PCGS. The Cherrypicker's Guide reports that "the upper left curve of the underlying S is evident west and north of the D." Additionally, the Denver mintmark is strike-doubled due east. An 1950-S/D variety is also known, presumably the handiwork of the same inexperienced mint worker. This thoroughly lustrous and lightly toned Premium Gem is smooth aside from wispy grazes on the right obverse field.
