Description

1804 Quarter, Choice Very Fine, B-1
Compelling Original Surfaces

1804 25C B-1, R.3, VF35 PCGS. CAC. Many collectors are bound to find the original surfaces to be a compelling feature of this Choice Very Fine B-1 1804 quarter, an issue that is probably second in popularity only to the first-year 1796. While the 1796 quarter is the only issue having the Small Eagle reverse, the 1804 is a first-year type, the forerunner of all the Heraldic Eagle issues that follow. This piece displays splendid medium blue and gray surfaces tinged with pink and gold. There are a few scattered marks on each side, none of any consequence and largely removed from the focal points. The prominent die mark by star 9 easily attributes the B-1 die variety.
