Description

1798 Large Eagle Dollar, Pleasing VF35
B-11, BB-111, Pointed 9

1798 $1 Large Eagle, Pointed 9, B-11, BB-111, R.3, VF35 PCGS. Ex: Miller. Bowers Die State V. Warren Miller had several examples of the BB-111 variety in varying die states. Both his early and late die state coins were in higher grade, yet this mid-state coin is Choice in its own right. Gold toning accompanies areas of iridescence that include blue, lilac, and orange shades. Sharp definition remains on the both sides despite a prominent raised die crack from the rim to the underside of Liberty's chin, with another crack in the hair above the ear. The field stars, clouds, and eagle's wing tips are equally sharp. Glimpses of mint luster remain beneath the overall gray-gold patina.
