Description
1821 Half Dollar, Toned MS63
O-103, First Generation PCGS Holder
1821 50C O-103, R.2, MS63 PCGS. The lower-right serifs of
the A's and the lower-left serifs of the E's are missing throughout
the reverse legend, and a triple segment in the milling opposite
the leftmost leaf pair confirms the reverse die. Stars 1 and 13 are
squeezed close to the portrait and the rest of the stars are
positioned well clear of the milling. The coin is sharply struck at
the central portions but less so on the peripheries. Slate-gray
toning displays deep-blue overtones while mint luster remains
beneath the rich patina. This example appears to be tied at the low
end of the Condition Census for the O-103. Housed in a first
generation PCGS holder.Ex: Newport Beach (7/1989).
