1851/81 1C N-3, R.1, MS66 Brown PCGS. CAC. Grellman Die State a. A desirable early state of the dies, with heavy, horizontal lines beneath the date and the repunched underdigits crisply visible. The surfaces are smooth, glossy, and lustrous with sharply defined central elements. The peripheral dentils and stars are a bit less well-struck at the upper obverse but still pleasing. Traces of mint red are fleeting beneath the rich, bluish-brown patina. Our EAC grade MS62. Population: 4 in 66 (1 in 66+) Brown, 0 finer. CAC: 3 in 66, 0 finer (8/16).
