Description

1945-D Half Dollar, MS67+
Sharp Strike, Attractively Toned

1945-D 50C MS67+ PCGS. CAC. A combination of russet and gunmetal-blue toning adds natural appeal to the borders, and a translucent tinge of reddish-gold hovers across the frosty and sharply defined surfaces of this high-end Superb Gem half. Mint luster shimmers over the smooth surfaces to reveal only microscopic ticks. The head and branch hand show above-average definition for this often indifferently struck Denver issue, with the eagle's leg also sharper than expected. The present coin is tied for finest at PCGS, where a mere 18 pieces have achieved the Plus designation at the MS67 level, with none finer. CAC: 111 in 67, 0 finer (9/16).(Registry values: N991)
