The Finest Certified

1844 1C N-4, R.1, MS65 Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. Grellman Die State c, with thin rim breaks over stars 4 and 5, but with no evidence of the later die crack through the tops of AMERICA. The 1844 large cent is the second most difficult late date issue to locate with any original mint color, trailing the 1841 by a small number. PCGS has certified 20 1841 large cents with the Red and Brown or Red designation, and they have certified 32 1844 cents as Red and Brown or Red. This lovely Gem exhibits olive and bluish-brown patina on both sides, and retains about 50% of its brilliant orange mint color. Our EAC grade MS63. Population: 1 in 65 Red and Brown, 0 finer (9/16).
