Description

1887 Three Cent Nickel, PR67 Cameo
Tied for Finest Certified

1887 3CN PR67 Cameo PCGS. Rare so fine, this Superb Gem displays silverlike surfaces with a hint of pale-blue patina plus wisps of almond-gold at the reverse center. The PCGS holder indicates that this proof is an overdate, but the coin is from a late die state and lapped to show little evidence of the underdigit. The reverse die was lapped as well, with the left ribbon and bow ends disconnected. A remarkably well-preserved and contrasted proof, with watery fields and crisply frosted devices. We have never offered the equal of this outstanding PR67 Cameo example. Population: 3 in 67 Cameo, 0 finer (11/16).(Registry values: P2)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2769, PCGS# 83783, Greysheet# 2857)
