Large S Mintmark
1861-S 50C Large S, WB-101, MS64 PCGS. CAC. This spectacular
near-Gem exhibits frosty silver luster with light gray surfaces
that host splashes of pale gold toning on each side. The strike is
bold with sharp hair on the obverse and full feathers on the
reverse. The large S mintmark is centered over the F in HALF on the
reverse. Population: 14 in 64, 6 finer. CAC: 3 in 64, 6 finer
(11/16).Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 5-6/2012), lot 3827.
