Description

1871 Seated Dollar, MS62
Brilliant and Semiprooflike

1871 $1 MS62 PCGS. OC-9. Although the 1871 is one of only two issues in the Seated Dollar series with a mintage in excess of 1 million pieces, it is scarce in Mint State. This coin features prooflike fields that contrast against frosty motifs. The design elements are generally well-struck, with only Liberty's hair and foot, the stars along the upper right (facing) obverse border, and the top of the eagle's right wing displaying some of the usual softness typically found on this issue. The reverse is exquisitely preserved, while the obverse shows just a few minute marks. Housed in an old green label holder.
