Description
1909-S Lincoln Cent, MS67 Red
Tied for Finest at PCGS
1909-S 1C MS67 Red PCGS. Far more scarce in high grade than
the S-VDB is the 1909-S Lincoln cent, which is a major rarity in
Superb Gem Red condition. The present coin is one of only 18 pieces
in MS67 Red, where it is tied for the finest certified. By
contrast, PCGS reports 30 1909-S VDB coins in this grade (11/16).
The strike is sharp throughout, and the frosty surfaces yield warm
golden-tan luster. There are no distracting abrasions or spots. The
1909-S Lincoln cent is among the little publicized but challenging
condition rarities in the series. The Registry Set collector should
not let this top-grade example go by.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22B4, PCGS# 2434, Greysheet# 1798)
