1949 Quarter, Lightly Toned MS68
Tied for the Finest Known
1949 25C MS68 PCGS. The Washington quarter series is easy to
assemble a collection of in its entirety, but if top-grade examples
are sought of each issue, the set becomes a major challenge to
complete. Although plentiful through MS67, the 1949 has a
population of only four coins in MS68 at PCGS, the finest grade
achieved (11/16). One is housed in the current finest PCGS Registry
Set. Another is offered here. This piece displays satiny luster and
seemingly flawless surfaces. Dusky champagne, olive-gold,
lavender-pink, and greenish toning encompasses each side, attesting
