1882 Three Dollar, MS62
Better Later Date
1882 $3 Repunched Date, FS-301, MS62 PCGS. A semiprooflike
honey-gold and olive-green example. The strike is bold, and the few
field marks are of little import. The 2 in the date is lightly but
widely repunched north. Apparently, the first three date digits
were entered first, with a gang punch, then the final date digit
was inexpertly added and corrected. The same obverse die was used
for the entire business mintage of only 1,576 pieces.From The Hotel Harrington Collection.
