Description

1885 Gold Three Dollar, AU58
Second-Lowest Mintage of the Series

1885 $3 AU58 NGC. The 801-coin mintage of the 1885 three dollar gold piece ranks as the second lowest in the series (not counting that of the unique 1870-S). Examples were heavily saved at the time of issue, making the date collectible today. This near-Mint coin displays a sharp strike and semiprooflike fields. Light handling marks appear in the yellow-gold patina.
