1881-S $10 MS63+ PCGS. The 1881-S is mostly encountered in AU58 through MS62 grades. Despite a fairly generous mintage of 970,000 pieces, Select examples are highly elusive, and PCGS has yet to certify a single coin as MS64 or finer. As of (10/16), the present coin is tied with one other as finest graded at PCGS. It is a lustrous pumpkin-gold piece with a sharp strike and only a couple of consequential marks.(Registry values: N2998)
