Description

1827 O-132 Half Dollar, MS63
Square Base 2

1827 50C Square Base 2, O-132, R.3, MS63 PCGS Secure. Ex: Link. Although 49 die marriages are known for the 1827, O-132 is attributed easily, if the specialist knows where to look. The C in 50 C has a recut serif, and a vertical die line is present northwest of the I in LIBERTY. These pick-up points are courtesy of Dr. Glenn Peterson's invaluable reference to the series. This lightly toned example shows an arc of tan-brown toning on the left obverse field. No marks are of any consequence, and luster dominates the margins and motifs.
