Description

1851-C $2 1/2 XF40 PCGS. Variety 1. The 1851-C quarter eagle is a challenging issue in all grades, with approximately 200 pieces known. Coins grading finer than XF are scarce, and Mint State representatives are significant rarities. This lightly circulated example displays pleasant olive-gold patina with rich coppery-amber overtones in the recesses. The detail is a little soft in the centers, a product of both weak striking and minor wear.(Registry values: P2)
