The Finest NGC Certified
1783 C NOVA Nova Constellatio Copper, Blunt Rays MS64 Brown NGC.
Crosby 3-C, W-1875, R.3. This example ranks at the top of the
NGC Census for the 1783 Blunt Rays variety, and PCGS has only
graded one similar piece and one finer example (5/17). Since our
Permanent Auction Archives began in 1993, we have offered 13 Mint
State examples of this variety, none graded finer than MS63 Brown.
The present example is the finest that we have offered, tied for
the second finest certified, and clearly a Condition Census
representative of the popular 1783 Blunt Rays type. The Crosby 3-C
is the only die variety of that type, so examples are necessary for
specialized collections and Guide Book collections, adding demand.
This Choice Mint State representative has frosty cartwheel luster
with splendid chocolate-brown surfaces and extraordinary eye
