1843 $5 MS63 NGC. CAC. A substantial mintage of 611,205
Liberty half eagles was accomplished in 1843, but few examples have
survived in high grade. This attractive Select example exhibits
sharply detailed design elements and lustrous orange-gold surfaces
with some scattered minor contact marks on both sides. Census: 13
in 63 (1 in 63+, 1 in 63 ★ ), 9 finer. CAC: 2 in 63, 2 finer
