1839/8 Ten Dollar, AU53
Type of 1838
1839/8 $10 Large Letters AU53 PCGS. The 1839 gold eagle with
the 1838 obverse hub type is rare in mint State and scarce at the
AU level. However, it is the ideal type coin for the variety when
one considers the absolute rarity of the 1838 issue. This AU
representative displays excellent detail and some remaining luster.
The straw-gold surfaces have the usual scattered chatter.
