Description

1907 Indian Eagle, MS66+
No Periods, No Motto

1907 $10 No Motto MS66+ PCGS Secure. CAC. Although the famous Wire Rim and Rolled Edge patterns were produced earlier, the 1907 No Periods Indian eagle was the first version of Augustus Saint-Gaudens' iconic design to be seen by the general public. The 2018 Guide Book gives the mintage as 239,406 pieces, but this total may include 542 examples of the Wire Rim issue, according to Philadelphia Mint Superintendent Landis. Contemporary collectors saved many high-grade specimens of the 1907 Indian eagle for its novelty value, and the issue is not extremely difficult to locate in MS66 condition, but finer coins are very rare.

The present coin is a Plus-graded Premium Gem, with well-detailed design elements and radiant mint luster on both sides. The vivid orange-gold surfaces are impeccably preserved and eye appeal is terrific. Housed in a 30th Anniversary green label holder. PCGS has graded 12 numerically finer examples (5/17).(Registry values: N4719)
