Description

1878 Dime, Toned PR66+
The Sole Finest Non-Cameo at PCGS

1878 10C Type Two Reverse, F-101, R.3, PR66+ PCGS. This Plus-designated Premium Gem is the sole finest non-Cameo proof at PCGS, a distinction that makes it equally as important as the rarer Cameo coins of the same numeric grade, none of which are Plus-designated. The strike is sharp, although there is a planchet irregularity on Liberty's head. A splash of vivid blue and violet toning at the upper-right obverse contrasts with silver-white color elsewhere on that side. The reverse shows uniform champagne-gray. Population: 10 in 66 (1 in 66+), 0 finer (5/17).

Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 539041, Base PCGS# 4775)
