Description

1856 1C Upright 5, N-6, R.1, MS65 Red and Brown PCGS. Grellman Die State a. Light die lines above S-OF-A and at the branch stem near A remain in this early die stage. The point of a misplaced 1 protrudes from Liberty's bust tip -- a diagnostic "lump" for Newcomb-6. Stars 2 through 10 are rounded to one extent or another, but the central strike is sharp. Blue and brown toning covers the high points and open fields, while attractive Red highlights glow from protected areas. Carbon specks are trivial and unobtrusive on this Gem example. Our EAC grade MS63.
