Description

1958 Half Dollar, PR68+ Deep Cameo
Top-Graded Example at PCGS

1958 50C PR68+ Deep Cameo PCGS. Ex: Blue Ocean. In 2011, Rick Tomaska estimated that only 200 or 300 1958 Franklin half dollar proofs survived with Deep or Ultra Cameo contrast. Six years later, the population data still reflects that assessment with 231 grading events at PCGS and NGC combined. Impressively, this is the single finest example at PCGS as measured by the Plus designation. Marks are unseen on both sides, as are milk spots that frequently plague this issue. The strike is fully rendered. Seemingly bottomless fields produce the noted contrast. Population: 28 in 68 (1 in 68+) Deep Cameo, 0 finer (6/17).
