Description

1856 Seated Dollar, MS62
Rarely Offered in Uncirculated Condition

1856 $1 MS62 PCGS. The 1856 Seated dollar is a seldom-seen issue (only 63,500 pieces struck), and Mint State representatives are decidedly rare. This piece shows satiny luster beneath golden-gray patina on each side with unusually few abrasions for the grade. The central devices display moderate weakness, particularly on the upper portion of Liberty and the surrounding stars and on the eagle's left (facing) leg; an interesting characteristic, typical for the issue, and likely contributing to the lower grade assessment. Population: 7 in 62, 9 finer (6/17).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24YV, PCGS# 6944, Greysheet# 7206)
