1942 1C Experimental Brown Plastic Cent, Judd-2060, RB 42-57a --
Broken -- PCGS Genuine. Unc Details. Impact Strength Test.
First Reverse. This reddish-brown example is made of urea
formaldehyde mixed with wood pulp, and was produced by the Durez
Plastics and Chemical Company of North Tonawanda, New York. This
piece has "E-1" scratched into the upper reverse field, indicating
that this is one of the test pieces that the firm sent to the
National Bureau of Standards. This piece is housed within a
"Cointain" in its PCGS holder.Illustrated on page 175 of the Burdette reference.
