1873 Closed 3, No Arrows Dime, MS66
Fortin-103, FS-301, Repunched Date

1873 10C Closed 3, No Arrows, Repunched Date, F-103, FS-301, R.3, MS66 PCGS. A Top 100 Seated Dime Variety. Struck early in 1873 prior to passage of the infamous Mint Act of 1873, this Closed 3 Premium Gem dime preceded the requirements for an increase in weight signified by arrows added on either side of the date, and the dictate for an Open 3 in the date. The coin is frosted and colorfully toned -- sharply struck throughout -- with all four digits in the date repunched, tied for finest at PCGS. A diagnostic diagonal die line in the lower gown confirms the Fortin-103 variety. Population (all Closed 3 varieties): 5 in 66, 0 finer (7/17).
