Description

1878 Ten Dollar, MS64+
Exciting Registry Opportunity

1878 $10 MS64+ PCGS. CAC. When one just looks at the mintage of 73,700 pieces, the 1878 would appear to be moderately scarce but nothing would tip off the collector to just how rare it actually is in high grades. Our records show merely seven MS64 appearances for the 1878 eagle in the past 10 years, attesting to the issue's extreme rarity at this grade level. The strike is uniformly bold, especially on the stars, talons, fletchings, and olive leaves. Radiant frost blends with peach-gold color. The reverse border shows a few darker alloy spots. Totally original and undoubtedly exciting for the dedicated specialist. Population: 10 in 64 (2 in 64+), 1 finer. CAC: 2 in 64, 0 finer (7/17).(Registry values: N4719)
