1871 Liberty Round Gold Half Dollar
Rare BG-1042, MS61 Prooflike
A Leavenworth, Kansas Issue
1871 50C Liberty Round 50 Cents, BG-1042, High R.7, MS61
Prooflike NGC. An extremely rare Period Two round half dollar
by Hershfield & Mitchell of Leavenworth, Kansas. The Breen-Gillio
reference records five known examples, and PCGS states: "5 known."
NGC and PCGS combined list seven specimens, possibly including
resubmissions. This Prooflike coin is one of only two pieces at
NGC. The strike is bold and the fields are mirrored with warm
straw-gold color. Some stray lines in the fields determine the
grade. Census: 2 in 61 Prooflike, 0 finer (7/17).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2BZR, PCGS# 710871)
