Description

1911 Nickel, Top-Graded MS67
Finest Example We Have Handled

1911 5C MS67 PCGS. Having the largest mintage in the series with 39.5 million coins might lead one to believe that the 1911 nickel is widely available in high grades. Such is not the case, however. The 1911 is scarce in MS66 and becomes a monumental condition rarity in MS67. Six Superb Gem grading events (possibly including duplications) are reported at PCGS and NGC combined. Those coins must be tightly held, because this is the first time we have handled any MS67 representative, according to our Permanent Auction Archives. Both sides display slight powder-blue overtones with accents of gold. The motifs are well-impressed, and the left ear of corn displays partial kernel detail. A couple of ticks on the bust tip and denomination are the only flaws. Encapsulated in a green label holder. Population: 5 in 67, 0 finer (9/17).
